JOB TITLE: Housekeeper

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Makes beds, changes sheets, towels, and other linens. Thoroughly cleans guest room to include dusting, waxing and polishing furniture, sweeping floors, vacuuming and shampooing rugs, emptying ashtrays and wastebaskets, and sanitizing lavatories. Using a ladder, washes walls and windows and dusts drapes and blinds. Turns mattresses, sanitizes all fixtures and bedding with disinfectant, and services each room daily with soap, cups, coffee, etc. Reports missing or broken articles to supervisor. Occasionally scrubs, strips, waxes, and polishes floors using heavy (industrial-type) powered scrubbers and buffers. Washes and replaces Venetian blinds. Washes ceiling fixtures. Moves heavy furniture. Conducts linen, amenity inventory by daily, weekly, monthly and as assigned by supervisor. Launders linens, towels, etc. as required.
Brings the lost and found items from the guest room; tags with guest name/room number to the item bag; logs into logbook; sends post card to the guest; upon customer¿s request (email or call), releases item to the guest, and prepares document to send all unclaimed items to Recycle.
Sets-up breakfast table, arranges pre-packaged food, prepares coffee, and performs general cleaning tasks such as clearing and cleaning tables and counters, sweeping and mopping counter and dining area floor.
May be required to work a varying schedule to reflect the business needs.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.
Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment, and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.
Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 20 years old AND have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school;
OR
Have completed a formal vocational training program;
OR
Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with preference for employment rather than continuing education.
(Valid documentation will be required upon hire.) - Must be able to lift items weighing up to 25 lbs., such as linen, trash; and bending, stooping and pushing and/or pulling heavy carts weighing up to 100 lbs; standing, walking for long periods of time.
- A valid Government Owned Vehicle (GOV) operator¿s permit is required for the performance of duties for this position. Inability to obtain or maintain appropriate GOV licensing may result in termination for lack of qualifications. The incumbent is required to obtain required GOV licenses within 30 days of hire.
- Must be able to accommodate flexible work schedule to include weekends and night time.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Working knowledge of the use of cleaning chemicals, spot cleaning as well as small equipment such as vacuum cleaner, carpet shampoo machine and portable steam cleaner.
- Ability to prioritize, restock maid carts and organize work.
- Basic ability to comprehend English language sufficient to understand information such as cleaning solution labels, instructions, simple message, etc.
