INTRODUCTION: This position is located within the Marine Corps Community Services Division (MCCS), Semper Fit Branch, Health Promotions Section, Fitness Coordination Unit. The primary function of the position is to serve as a Fitness/HITT Instructor and Fitness Specialist. The program serves a diverse population of active duty, reserve, and retired military, their family members, civilians, and other authorized customers to include the local national community in and around the installation.
This position¿s pay level is NF-02/03. At the entry level, the incumbent will perform substantially the same duties and responsibilities in the developmental capacity under closer supervision. The incumbent is required to successfully complete all training and educational requirements and certifications, gain specialized experience and be recommended by the supervisor prior to advancement to the target grade level.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for serving as a High Intensity Tactical Training (HITT) Instructor and Fitness Specialist at any of the Marine Corps Semper Fit Health Promotion/Athletic installations on Okinawa.
Develops personalized fitness programs for both individuals and Units.
Leads weekly HITT classes, conducts basic nutrition consultations, Body Composition Program Nutritional classes, body fat testing, resting metabolic rate testing, performance assessments, fitness clinics, etc. upon request.
Is responsible for overall HITT Locker inventory and equipment upkeep/organization.
Assists with any/all activities associated with the MCCS Health Promotion programs.
May be tasked with leading and assisting in Unit PT sessions, instructing HITT for Small Unit Leaders Courses, Employee Wellness Program, Unit briefs, Events and any other fitness related programs that are conducted by MCCS Health Promotion.

Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.
Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment, and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
To be hired at Level 1 (NF2), candidate must have:
- High school diploma or GED, AND
- One or more of the following current certifications:
1. Certified Exercise Physiologist, American College of Sports Medicine
2. Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, National Strength and Conditioning Association
3. Certified Personal Trainer, American Council on Exercise America
4. Personal Trainer, National Academy of Sports Medicine
To be hired at Level 2 (NF3), candidate must have:
- Bachelor degree in (1) Exercise Science (2) Exercise Physiology (3) Kinesiology (4) Human Performance (5) or Fitness-related field, OR
- High school diploma or GED, AND at least five years of experience in personal training, Strength & Conditioning, and/or tactical fitness.
- All candidate must have one or more of the following current certifications:
1. Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, National Strength and Conditioning Association
2. Certified Exercise Physiologist, American College of Sports Medicine
3. Certified Personal Trainer, American Council on Exercise
4. Personal Trainer, National Academy of Sports Medicine
To be hired at Level 3 (NF3), candidate must have:
- Bachelor degree in (1) Exercise Science (2) Exercise Physiology (3) Kinesiology (4) Human Performance (5) or Fitness-related field, AND
- One or more of the following current advanced certifications:
1. Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, National Strength and Conditioning Association
2. Certified Exercise Physiologist, American College of Sports Medicine
3. Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist, American College of Sports Medicine
