JOB TITLE: Recreation Assistant

INTRODUCTION: This position is located in the Automotive Services Program, Retail Operations Section, Business Operations Branch, Marine Corps Community Services Division, MCB Camp S. D. Butler, Okinawa, Japan.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees the retail sales of automotive parts and supplies, cash control, and safeguarding funds collected. Completes and verifies daily activity reports. Administers closing out register, safe, and office spaces. Places calls to Blanket Purchase Agreement(BPA), Direct Delivery Agreement(DDA) and other contacts to vendors and orders all required repair parts, supplies and equipment; properly maintains that tools and equipment are in good working condition; performs inventories and all clerical and record keeping tasks as required for maintenance control and analysis etc. Assists shop manager in evaluating, training, counseling, and scheduling employees. Handles tow service from schedules, rates, and payments. Monitors use of expendables and identify reorder requirements. Makes recommendations in improving shop procedures and customer relations. Oversees issue and return of tools. Advises and instructs employees and patrons in proper repair techniques. Enforces safety standards and proper disposal of waste and hazardous materials. Determines probable causes of breakdown, equipment needed, and final destination of vehicles being towed. Ensures that the shop is kept in a neat, safe, and orderly condition at all times.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years old AND have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school.
(Valid documentation will be required upon hire.) - A minimum of one (1) year experience in an automotive repair business, or equivalent automotive repair experience, or automotive certification is required.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- One (1) year of clerical or cashier work experience is preferred.
- Ability to speak conversational Japanese or better is preferred.
- Broad knowledge of equipment, techniques, and tools in automotive service and repair.
- Skill to learn MCCS policies, rules and regulations involving the area.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in English.
- Knowledge of basic mathematics.
- Must be able to perform prolonged standing and walking, heavy lifting and carrying objects up to 40lbs independently and objects over 40lbs with assistance or mechanical devices.
- Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule to include weekend, holidays and night time.
- Must complete Cash Handling Training Course before handling fund and Refresher course once a year.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain GOV license.
- Must be able to complete a Tier 1 federal investigation and maintain ongoing fitness for federal employment.
