DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Serves as the High Intensity Tactical Training (HITT) Program Director. Provides the HITT Program components to active duty and reservist service members aboard the base.  Enhances force readiness by providing proper education and training on functional fitness, injury prevention, nutrition, proper execution of prescribed exercises and other related subjects for combat fitness.  Formulates, organizes, prioritizes, and implements a structured curriculum that educates, provides a sense of achievement, aids in physical and mental health, and promotes performance to ensure the success of HITT and related combat fitness training programs.   


Plans, develops, evaluates and refines course materials and exercise methods and techniques to educate service members on proper fitness, nutrition, injury prevention, and proper execution of physical training that impacts readiness. Conducts program evaluations, consolidates data, provides reports and tracks trends to assess and improve program effectiveness. Maintains ongoing training and education to stay abreast of the most current subject matter information, tools and practices in the field of exercise science.


Plans, develops, evaluates and refines events and courses including installation wide challenges, HITT for Small Unit Leaders Courses, and other fitness related programs conducted by MCCS Health Promotion. Oversees and provides guidance for active-duty unit strength and conditioning programming and recruitment.


Is responsible for overseeing inventory and equipment upkeep/organization processes at all HITT Centers. 


Serves as the Supervisor for the HITT Program and ongoing combat fitness programming to coordinate, implement, evaluate, and review all aspects of effective delivery of combat fitness programs.  Consults with commanders to design and conduct combat conditioning and fitness improvement programs. Coordinates with Military Professional Schools and training institutions to ensure effective delivery of curriculum on sound, evidence-based exercise principles.   


Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner.  Takes action to solve problems quickly.  Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.  Adheres to safety regulations and standards.  Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.  Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.  


May work a fluctuating work schedule to complete work assignments outside of the typical work week and work hours.  May travel to complete work assignments, and conduct or attend conferences and meetings.   

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must have bachelor's degree in one of the following: (1) Exercise Science (2) Exercise Physiology (3) Kinesiology (4) Human Performance (5) or other Fitness-related degree.
  2. Must have one or more of the following current certifications: (1) Certified Exercise Physiologist - American College of Sports Medicine (2) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist - National Strength and Conditioning Association (3) Certified Personal Trainer - American Council on Exercise (4) Personal Trainer - Aerobic Fitness Association of America (5) Personal Trainer - National Academy of Sports Medicine (8) or Physical Fitness related discipline certified through an accredited institution. 
  3. Possesses or be eligible to take one of the following certifications within 6 months of hire: USAW -1, Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator (TSAC-F), Certified Inclusive Fitness Specialist (CIFT-ACSM) or Weight Management (ACE)
  4. Must have a minimum of three years fitness management experience. 
  5. Must be able to lead, motivate and manage a team. 
  6. Must have or be able to obtain a CPR/AED and First Aid Certification upon hire.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Skill to deal effectively with various contacts such as Enlisted Professional Military Education (EPME) Course Coordinators (where applicable), military members at various levels of authority and members of military institutions.   
  2. Knowledge of and/or membership in an accredited association such as:  American College of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association and other accredited associations to stay abreast of current practices and theories, network with SMEs and enhance the effectiveness and credibility of military programming.   
  3. Skill to plan, develop, evaluate and refine course materials and methods and techniques, and assess and improve program effectiveness.   
  4. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Knowledge and experience in administration of performance assessments and fitness assessments, exercise prescriptions, conducting progressive individual strength and conditioning programs, and proper exercise techniques sufficient to conduct comprehensive combat fitness programs.   
  6. Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 60lbs independently and objects over 60lbs with assistance. 
  7. A valid Government Owned Vehicle (GOV) operator's permit may be requested of this position at the supervisor's discretion. If the supervisor determines that this position requires a GOV, the employee is required to obtain the license within 30 days of supervisor's written direction to do so. Inability to obtain or maintain the appropriate licenses may result in disciplinary action. (The employee may be required to drive a HITT Truck which is up to 3-ton capacity.)
  8. Must be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries and State Criminal History Repository Check (Tier 1) with Childcare background checks which are required for positions that involve working with children under 18 years of age.
